around the world in a day...........

Abit of a delay due to Stirctly watching, forgive me, so here goes..........

Don't you just love Prince for providing not only a g8 song but the title of this evening's post for Blog around the world?

Got your passport ready for stamping by immigration,...thank you and here we go.

So after all the teasing we are actually here. The premise for this bloghop/train is for 40 lovely bloggers from Shimelle's classes to do a bloghop from one blog to another across the world the world starting and ending with our fab organizer Helena in sunny New Zealand. The plan is to show you a view from our window and also of our scraproom/desk.

So this is the view from my window on a lovely day..................not today though cos it's raining cats and dogs here and extremely cold.

Now unfortunately I don't have a dedicated scraproom and my spare bedroom has still not been sorted out since moving in to make it more scrap friendly so no piccy to share I'm afraid. Instead I thought I'd tell about some of my world travels.
My first trip into the big wide world was as a teenager with school and we went to the lovely Northern French town of Dinard and spent time there perfecting our French (not!!!) and visiting some wonderful places. Particularly of note was Mont St Michel.

I loved it there. A city in the sea. Truly beautiful and mystic as at high tide the city becomes an island only possible to reach by boat. Now here in the UK we have our own St Michael's Mount in the lovely Cornish coast. It too is an island at hightide however it is on a much smaller scale.

My first big trip abroad was with my good friend Louise. We went for 3 weeks to the Eastern coast of America.

Starting in New York, we travelled by train via Washington DC, Richmond, Savannah and Orlando before flying home. It was an amazing trip mainly because neither of us had been on holiday to the USA before and had only spent a few days together previously so it was not only an adventure in travel but also friendship. Luckily Lou Lou is still one of my greatest friends.

There are many stories about that holiday we look back on with laughter and sometimes regret,.............Charlie the hotel cockroach, skating at the Rockerfeller centre, our first US beers, meeting the Tribbles and sitting in James T Kirk's chair at the Planetarium, going to the Statue of Liberty and climbing up inside her head and looking out to the sea which you can't do anymore, going to the FBI J Edgar Hoover building and seeing what the FBI does first hand, walking around DC and visiting Arlington State cemetery,

travelling overnight to Richmond with drum and bass playing,.............arriving in Richmond and being told not to go out as it was such a dangerous place (we never saw anything bad happen), being the only white people on public transport, walking.........not the done thing either apparently, visiting Lou's sister, Louise being held by gunpoint at the local pizzeria, winning $50.00 at Universal studios which paid for us to go to Epcot and have supper on our last day. It was an amazing trip to an amazing country.

Anyway, the next blog you're going to is Beverly's. Now she is a lady from the US (get the link?) and hails from the beautiful Northern Carolina city of Raleigh or the city of oaks as it is known. Now we rode through the state on the train so I only saw bits from the window but what I saw looked truly beautiful.

Now Beverly has her own store of craft bits and it's worth a look. I'm sure she's going to give you some amazing insights on her blog so lets pop over there now. Get your passport ready for immigration and off you go. Bye and safe journey.

Send me a postcard :)
