Colour class: orange and yellow
The second week of class was orange and yellow colours.
The minute I saw the orange I knew which picture to use. When I went to San Francisco I climbed inside the Coit Tower a major landmark. Inside are the most beautiful murals depicting Californian life. These orange pickers stood out.
Here is my LO.............
I first spritzed the blue cardstock with orange glimmer mist and then layered the pictured onto blue and then orange dotted papers. I them cut some stips of orange papers which I distressed with black inks and handcut a bird and leaf from another patterned paper. The flowers are canvas painted with Jenny Bowlin daubers and layered with foam dots. The title is layered onto blue and orange dotted paper. I then added some blue gemstones.
When it came to the yellow LO I wracked my brains for a picture and then remembered my favourite baby duckling from last year, yep the only true yellow one in the clutch. So here he is with his brown brothers and sisters swimming on the Bishop's Palace moat.
The title reads ''8 lil ducks went swimming one day'' from the nursery song. I used yellow and black as they have a stark contrast. and especially as there is alot of blue in the pictures I didn't want to distract from them too much.

Wow, the top layout has the colours just spot on - it is stunning Jo! How are you finding the class?
ReplyDeleteYay, my favourite colours! The duck page is so lovely - what a dear little duckling...
ReplyDeleteBut the orange page is just fabulous. You have certainly done justice to that wonderful mural picture. The colour choices are lovely - they just pop off the page.
Do you have a "supplies list"?
I especially love the colours in the first layout, how beautiful they look together.
ReplyDeleteBut how cute are those little ducks! That one really has the 'ahhh' factor.
I love that little bird in the first one - hand cutting is always good in my book! It's a great class isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHow did you get those colours to match so beautifully! They are just spot on ... Lovely on the eye.
ReplyDeleteLove that orange page! It feels so familiar to me - being from a nearby place and featuring the kind of folk art I love! good to be home and back to visiting blogs,
ReplyDeleteRinda
