Happy New Year............

Happy New Year everybody, hope you all had a fab Christmas and enjoyed celebrating the beginning of a new decade. I spent the evening with my neighbour and his family playing charades, a card game called Mou mou, Jenga (ooh that got dead competitive) and generally having a gr8 time. It was one of the best New Years Eves I've ever had. I can even remember what I was doing 10 years ago at the Millenium as I was working night duty on the neonatal ward at Salisbury. We watched the millenium across the world and strangly no electrical problems arose!!!!

So over Xmas I have read this book,

remember this post? I won the first pay the book forward from           and I must say the book is great. A story of knitting, family, moving on, love and change I read it over a couple of days and am so smitten I managed to get the followup book in the Oxfam bookshop the other day. In between I have also read my new Kathy Reichs I had for Christmas and am deciding what to go for next. If you would like to be on the list to be the next Pay the book forward recipient then email me at:

josowerby[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]uk
by the 10th January 5pm and I will pick a winner.
I have also been working I promise on JYC 2010 and am playing catch up. But I have also begun, or at least started reading the new things I am going to be doing over the coming weeks and months. Firstly I am repeating Ali Edward's Yesterday and Today class and also Lisa Cohen's Wellness class which was given as presents last Xmas and have got with a alumni reduction again for 2011. The new class I am doing is Ali Edward's year long class ''One Little Word''. Last year I chose a word for the year which was ''Wellness'',.............haha. That didnt go very well really so I have chosen a new word for 2011. I thought long and hard and it just popped into my head one day so I have chosen.................
renewal.
I think this is a really positive word for me and hasn't got the pressure of last years word. I feel really gr8 about this word and have begun the processes Ali suggests for this month's prompt. This is a brand new 12 monthly class and I think Ali is a magnificent teacher and has wonderful ideas so it will be fun. Other blog friends are doing it too so I hope we can share and support each other in our storytelling. Speaking of which I will put another post for Sian's new storytelling Sunday event later. Have a read and come back later to see what I come up with.
Just to finish off, here is a selection of presents I received from family and friends for my Xmas/birthday........

  5. Lovely looking set of gifts! I recognise one of them, I received one of those, too :-)

I hope you enjoy your classes. I'm trying not to sign up to anything new because I have several archived classes to go back to, but I look forward to following your progress. My 'one little word' for this year is 'details', and I keep thinking of new ways to apply it! xx

  6. Jo, I am so sorry I am late to visit ..... your blog drops off my reader all the time - I am having 'blogger issues'!
I am glad to see that a little something finally arrived for you :-)
I've missed the chance to join in with the book fun but will follow where it ends up ... and, totally unrelated but we have almost the exact same word for this year - great minds think alike so they say :-)

  7. Love your word. I'm in those 2 classes as well but behind (as usual). But at least I am now in week 2 of Yesterday & Today. :) Look forward to seeing you on there. Now I've got to check out that book.

  8. I'm catching up on my blog reading after being away. I thought a lot about redoing Ali's Yesterday and Today because I did not complete any of it. I'm hoping to do it on my own this year. I think it's the only extended class where I just couldn't get going. I'm not sure why, but I do want to get back to it. I think "renewal" is a fabulous choice. I'll be looking forward to seeing what kinds of things you do in the One Word Class.
