First week pictures.

Just a shorty to show u some pictures from this week:

The first 2 days were spent here doing induction to the Trust. Alot of info to take in and not always relevant but it was good to get the full picture of how the Trust operates. I also met 2 other new health visitors and 2 speech therapists and a medical student. We've exchanged numbers so hopefully we'll meet up sometime.
Me having coffee on the first day with my label on!!!! I have got my official namebadge and that smile hasn't faded over the week, in fact I think it's gotten wider.

Monday evening my sis and her BF bbq'd and I stayed over.

On Tuesday we had fire safety and I got to put out a simulated computer fire!!!! We then all had to go into a smoke filled room in small groups and find our way out again. That was really scarey.
Geese on Chew Valley Lake. I go past this huge reservoir every day on the way to work. I stop most days for some fresh air.

So this is the Health centre where I work. It is on huge site in the centre of Knowle and there is also a Walk In Centre on the site as well.

On Friday we went to a directorate morning to assess staff issues and had to make lots of crafty things. This is all about communication.
So tomorrow, I am working doing 9month baby developmental checks and shadowing Jill, my HVing colleague. Looking forward to what this new week holds.

Looking forward to doing Shimelle's class tomorrow as I have so much stash it is unmanageable!!!!!
Classes are going ok and I am working 2 extra hours tomorrow. I also have another interview for a different company next Friday so things are looking up. Dad's second lecture went well today and he has been asked to do some more.

Mixed bag

.......so today saw me re-enter a classroom for the 1st time on 12 months. Scarey?! Yeah abit but it was OK. The main focus was assignment support so helping the students complete essay goals etc. and pointing in the right direction. I am working as a contracotr so have had to sign up to a payroll company which is fun and I paid some perks like travel and meals. It's four days work but it IS four days work.
Unfortunately I got home to find I couldnt phone out on my phone, no money in the bank and my uncle had sent me a foul message by email for not sending him a birthday card!!!!!!! What is going on in Jo land. Anyway, I've had a moan and feel ok now.
My dad's lecture went well last Friday thanx for all your love and he is doing it all again in Manchester tomorrow, at the football ground. Up market or what. Anyway off to print out tomorrow's lesson plans and work................listen to me all excited about a lesson p[lan.

So today was not full of excitement at all, no it was a day for HOUSEWORK. Now normally you wouldn't see me doing this cos I have to be honest I do the minimum possible. However as I rent my flat, the dreaded flat inspection is due so I have to make sure it is looking a fair bit tidier than it is at the moment.
As i only moved in 4 months ago I thought I might have abit more time to prepare but no it has to be this week. So out came the marigolds and the squirty stuff and off we go. Now cleaning up is fun when u have a decent tune to listen to so I set up my laptop to Spotify.............if you haven't got it it is free to download and u can listen to music for free!!!
Now I like to be able to dance around while cleaning so it has to be something with bounce and as I'm an 80s girl I had a lovely mix of the Duran boys, The Communards and Erasure plus abit of Soft Cell for good measure. Scrubbing feels so much better with the boys along for the ride.
I even managed to make a fish pie............yummy........ while doing all this.

The other thing I have been working on is my portfolio, as a nurse I have to register my intention to practise yearly and every 3 years the NMC can ask to see and audit my portfolio. It has to contain any study I have done, experiences I've reflected on at work, certificates, my CV. It's quite a complex thing to put together but a necessary part of being a professional. The other reason is because I am applying for jobs. I love my job but it's only bank, like agency work, so I only get paid when I work. There are meant to be some permanent roles coming up but I'm on the lookout just in case I don't get one.
