Christmas club part 2.

Santa Claus is coming to town........................... yep today is the traditional Wells Rotary Santa Parade. Every year on the first weekend in December, the Rotarians of which Dad is a member, hold this annual event in the market square and through Wells. Santa comes in a proper sleigh with real life reindeer and sleighs down the street with the marching band and his lil elves.

The Mother and I as supporters of the dad get to run the mulled wine stall,

with me heckling encouraging people to buy our wares. Very nice mulled wine it is too and non-alcoholic for the drivers. This year we did a fair old trade especially as we were next to the soup stand and near the coffees. I love this day as loads of families come and the children as are so excited to see real reindeer up close. This year we also had a mummy and baby donkey called Jock. After the parade, the mother and I went down to the church at the bottom of the city to see the Christmas trees displayed. I tried to take some bokeh pictures but I think they would have looked better once it got dark oh well maybe another day I'll give it a try.

Anyway in other news, I've won 2 blog prizes, one from Liberty Cottage and the other from Project Team Ewan so when I get the prizes I'll tell you a bit more.

22.04: and this just in from The Maverick Crafter............................

There once was an ugly duckling...........or in this case a cute few!

Went into Wells today to get some bits now I've been paid my benefits.............that will soon be a thing of the past............yippee. I am writing a list of things I'd like to do when I receive my first pay cheque. The list includes:
  • buy my parents and sister a nice meal,
  • buy some new clothes and especially bras!!!!
  • start a savings account I can keep up with.
  • have a housewarming party..................or in this case flat warming.
  • visit the friends I haven't been able to for months
  • save for a holiday
  • save for Christmas.
This list will probably be overtaken with more mundane things but I feel it is important to have some goals I can look forward to.
I went to the Moat around the Bishop's Palace as I haven't seen the ducklings for a week, imagine my emotions when I discovered that only 3 of the original ducklings are still alive.........

It seems that something has carried them off. However the little cute yellow one is still there despite our feats he would be picked off really easily. Let's hope the 3 surviving ducklings will manage to keep away from whatever picked off the others.

This guy made me laugh.....................king of the castle duck!!!!!
The other thing which I had to do was post off my books for read it swap it. If you've never heard of it, it is a website where you lists books u'd like to swap and u make a list of books u'd to get. I have swapped 4 this week so I had to send them off. I am getting Juliet Naked by Nick Hornby, and 3 others I've been after for a while for P & P. I am hoping someone will swap Wolfhall with me at some stage but at the moment I am reading a g8 booko by Wally Lamb. It's about identical twin boys in America. One of whom has schizophrenia. At the beginning of the book he does something incredibly shocking and the book unfurls from there narrated by his brother and moves across different times in their lives and the effects his illness has had on him and other characters. It is very good and sad in places.
Also posted the invites for mum's birthday, no foot stamping was necessary Lizzie!!!!! I also took one over to one of her firneds in Wookey. She has the most beautiful home and garden and we sat drinking coffee and eating bickies with her dog Milly. We also watched a bluetit brining bits and pieces to her birdbox...............whether they have babies or are prepapring for them we couldn't tell.

Crop continued.....

Yesterday blogger had a hissy fit and wouldnt let me upload my pictures of my LO from crop so I'm trying again. The picture is of my friends youngest Jonathan. He must have been about 2-3 here and is wearing his favourite Tigger had. The papers are Kraft Kuts and Kraft card with Sassafrass thrown in for good measure. The journalling is a stamp as are the little birds.

I thought you might also enjoy a picture of Wells Cathedral which you really cant miss when u go ANYWHERE around here. Isnt she lovely?

Little City..........

So today I have been out into the big city of Wells where I live. It is actually the smallest city in England, and possibly the UK. Some people will recognise it as it was the main backdrop for ''Hot Fuzz' one of the funniest films ever made............in my opinion.
You can often hear visitors say ''Is that the well known supermarket chain used in Hot Fuzz?'', ''Didn't they film Hot Fuzz here?''.......... well yes they did and very cleverly hid the fact that there is a massive cathedral right in the middle!!!!
Anyway it's a lovely place to live and I wanted to get some piccies of the local wildlife.................ie the swans. They are famous as they can ring a bell for dinner......I kid you not. So I dragged my mum off to the moat after lunch to take some pictures. The other reason for going into Wells was to see what was wrong with the camera my dad had given me. It's his old posh Pentax 35mm camera with all the flash lenses. I've been trying to use it for ages but the film wouldn't catch onto the runners correctly so off I went armed with said camera to the camera shop. Suffice to say I'm obviously having a blonde period,...................sorry to any blonde ladies I luv you all, and I hadn't been doing it correctly. So now I can I will be trying out my flashy lenses and trying to get some more interesting shots.
....................Anyway back to the swans. There were 4 cygnets which were half ugly ducklings and half swans with their white plummage coming through. They live on the moat of the Bishop's Palace and were very happy to be photographed today thank you very much. So here are a few pictures............
