Just one Sketch........................the finale.

I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time in Miss Smith's class and learned loads about how to adapt my own sketches. So now the class is finished and I present my final layouts for your perusal.

This class was to use circles on your layout in whatever way you liked. I chose a cute picture of my friend's puppy Brue and used circular letter stickers, semi-circular braid, brads, some circular chipboard elements, half a doily from some packaging and some flowers.

This next class was to minimise your picture and layers on the layout. I chose a picture of my lil sister and my cat Lotty who sadly died several years ago. I used some misting spray in Calico white on the page to lessen the orange and then picked the colours and shapes from my old sofa. We also had to do some embroidery so I did that for the title word ''girl''. The title was inspired by The Eurythmics song which I happened to be listening to on the day.................

The next lesson was to make a layout without a photo. When Clair sent me my lovely bracelet I knew I would use the spare little beaded pins she had sent in case the bracelet wasn't big enough. I threaded the pins onto some thread and then layered up the layout. I wanted to tell the story of the lost bracelet so that is what I journalled..........

The next lesson was to layer. Oh what a great way to spread stash. I found a cute picture of my Uncle's cat from a trip to Portugal. Because she's a tabby I used autumnal colours and I found a wood paper to emulate her coat. I used doily, patterned paper, tags and stickers to layer up the picture. .........

 ....................I also embellished with stickers, brads and a camera.

This final layout was to be inspired by the class as a whole. I found an old photo of me and my friend Sarah in Bath and journalled the story. I used autumnal shades again as it was October/November time and I was wearing an orange blouse. I was inspired by Miss Smith's layouts so scraplifted some of her wonderful embellishment ideas. I punched some butterflies, love them. I found some fab stickers and a cool orange lettering set.

So now class is over but I will be using the skills I have learned and drawing a few more of my own sketches and scraplifting and adapting a little more.

Just one little sketch part 1

This is the class I have been taking which I talked about in this post and is hosted and taught by the wonderful Miss Smith. The idea is that you take one sketch, which you either draw yourself or use one u like, and then ring the changes. Now this post will be photo heavy I'm afraid cos I've been catching up on my homework so here goes.

We firstly had to design our sketch and this is what I came up with....................

So the first layout I produced was very much straight to this sketch and features photographs from a trip I made over 15 years ago to the USA.

 

Then the canny Miss Smith sent us all a dither by getting us to turn the sketch round in circles so that we ended up with a layout like this.....................

So this sketch change meant I could use a landscape image I had of San Francisco Bay using 2 pictures stitched together with tape to make a panorama. I did add in an extra layer of patterned paper beneath the photo as it is slightly faded and needed a little lift.

This my favourite photo of the day we went to the Grand Canyon. It was such an amazing view and the photo came out almost like a postcard. I used kraft again for the colour and then stamped through my sequin waste using a white stamp pad. The stamp is from Etsy and the letters are Amy Tangerine which have stitched effects on hence the white line around the edge of the page to link the themes together.

The next layout idea was to make a reflection, ie a double page layout, for which I had the perfect photographs from New Mexico...................

I used Kraft cardstock to reflect the sand in the landscape and then used a yellow stamp which I stamped through some sequin waste, which I bought for 25p at our local scrapstore. I used the same patterned papers on each page and circular embellishments to link the pages together. Here are close ups of each page.............

The next 2 ideas involved colour, firstly a monochromatic scheme.....................

Because there is so much blue in the sky I chose a blue tone for my monochrome layout, using tones patterned paper and embellishments. I added in some brown as I had some leaf stickers, ribbon and letter stickers which appeared to match well, and I added some splashes of white misting.

And then a colour we rarely used for which I chose blacks and greys which I so rarely use I have boxes of dark cardstock hidden away which would probably have never have seen the light of day.

So I did add in some bright Christmassy red because it is a Christmas themed page, some white mist and some white and red stamping through the sequin waste.....................have to say I'm loving this game alot.


I actually loved this colour scheme so much I made another layout of my grandpa............

The next theme was to fill the page and I found these pictures from 1998 when I took part in my second production of My Fair Lady...............

Because this depicts the famous Ascot Gavotte scene, I wanted to keep the colours black and white as much as possible so I used some of the left over patterned paper from the Reindeer layout. I also found some striped ribbon and pearls, some cool stickers and chipboard photo corners, and I used a striped black and white paper which I punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch and inked with distress ink in Black Soot. 

Wow that's alot of homework. So now I have about three assignments to work on.
