Blimey it's August and this weekend it was HOT!

Saturday was an early start because it was the annual village show. I went all Kirsty Allsopp and decided to put in a few little things for some of the creative classes.

I entered three photographs into the photography classes. And my crocheted poncho and felt kitty cat for the sewing and crochet sections.


The parents came over in the afternoon and we wandered around looking at all the fabulous vegetables, flowers and floral artistry. And we looked at the beautiful creativity of all the handmade items. Then we had tea and cake.

Yep, that is a First in the category. What a chuffed girl I was and still am. My mum was unable to speak!

It was all a lot quieter yesterday. The clouds came out and so I sat and crocheted a little, blogged and read, and cooked something yummy for tea.

It was very much a garden weekend. Firstly I spent a lot of time sitting in it on Saturday as the weather was beautiful. I read my latest book on my Summer Bingo reading pile and relaxed whilst smelling the scent of the roses, listening to the birds and the bees and the sun shone.

 It was also a wash your hair, put lots of conditioner in and plait it neatly and gosh hasn't it got long kind of day. It doesn't look like it but when it's wet my hair nearly reaches my waist now.

Sadly on Sunday it rained all day so I spent my day doing other things like repotting Peace Lily plants which had certainly outgrown their pots and needed the next size up.

I took some lavender cuttings and planted those up as per Monty Don's instructions on Fridays Gardener's World programme.

It was also a day for realising that some people in this house are gestating babies. Yes, the spider plant which I bought 3 months ago now as a wee plant has had to be repotted twice and is now having twins. This is just one of them. I do like a happy ending, don't you?

And furthermore, it was a day for planning big birthday fun in December because I am 50!!!!!!!! The sister had a fab idea the other week which I will share nearer the time. But suffice to say, the family will be enjoying the sea air at Christmas this year.

I also sat and caught up on blog reading and watched a little Sherlock.

All in all it was a weekend of change and growth.

Good evening from a sunny Somerset. I've been working all day so hence the late post. I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

For my family, this weekend is always full of eating, cake, present giving and generally having fun. It is my mum's birthday and this year she was 75. Wow she so doesn't look it. It's also Father's Day so we amalgamated the 2 on Saturday and met my sister and her partner at a lovely country pub.

Everyone had a fabulous meal, although some members of the party had eyes bigger than their stomachs so didn't finish their meals, naughty lol.

Yesterday, me, the mother and the father went to the Bishop's Palace in Wells where they were holding a Garden Festival. We spent several hours wandering around the beautiful gardens and looking at all the plants. One of our main questions was how on earth they have such magnificent hostas and what they do with the snails. We had lunch and watched the croquet and the housemartins doing their own version of the Grand Prix. Then went home for cake.

This weekend I was exhausted and just a little bit sickly :(

I am currently working 2 days a week at Citizen's Advice Bureau, I go to Group therapy one morning and do stuff for dad in the afternoon and the other two days I'm working hard in college. Pooped is the word of the weekend. Just pooped.

I have basically done some blogposts ready, eaten, watched Miss Marple and not alot else. Oh yes and I am currently babysitting the Mother whilst the Father is away. Mind you that does mean I get tea cooked for me instead of coming home and doing it myself so yay for that. She's promised me "Things your father won't eat". The mind boggles.

Happy Monday x

This weekend was a relax after the new routine of the week kind of weekend. The weather was lovely again so there was some washing out to dry, some weeding, some dead heading and some sitting outside reading a book time.

There was also a little bit of celebratory stuff, for myself anyway, as I have now gained my Level 3 OCR Business Administration Award, only one more module to go and I'll also have the Certificate. It was also a weekend to reflect on the new role I have taken on in my work and planning for the future. I'm thinking of doing another course come September, part-time again, but undecided as to whether to go forward or not.

There was a bit of Pinteresting, mainly around hair dos as my hair has gotten so long now, I need to learn some new ways of styling it. Yesterday it was a Heidi throwback, two plaits wrapped across my head. I've been looking into messy buns though as my hair is curly so I think I can carry it off.

There was also some creativity involved. A bit of playing with watercolour paints, practising pretty handwriting and finishing off an album for a class I've been doing.

All in all, a lovely time.

This weekend was a mixed bag really. Weatherwise it was really sunny and really rainy. Time was spent in the garden potting up plants bought at the May fair. Having to have plants in pots because of renting and the potential of having to move anytime is always a challenge, but this year I've added some lovely new grasses, a Sedum, some herbs my mum grew from seed and soon tomatoes will be taking up home.

It's also been a tidy up the house ready for the letting agents to do their three monthly check. It is highly stressful for a fleeting visit into the cottage to make sure I'm not doing what I shouldn't.

It's also been a weekend of catching up with washing, blogging preparation and blog reading, writing reports for college and revising for a bookkeeping test, watching birds bathing in puddles and Willow sunning herself and bringing in half the neighbours garden on her tail.

But it's also been a time for sitting and reading, watching "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell" and enjoying life in general.

On a Bank Holiday here in the UK so extra special weekend. I'm joining in with Sian today sharing my weekend exploits.

It's been a mixed bag of weekend weather as always for a bank holiday - Saturday was scorching, Sunday was wet and today is cloudy but that's ok, we UK peeps knuckle down and take our coats and brollies with just in case.


Saturday was a sit in the garden and relax kind of day. I spent it catching up with my projects for "My Details" an online class I'm taking with Kristin. I'm using lots of journalling, paint and a small selection of scrapbooking items to make my book which is a Simple Stories folder. I also sat and read away into my new Val McDermid book, got to love a crime thriller. It was also a pass your pilot tests on the computer bookkeeping course evening so I can do the real thing. Multiple guess was never my strong point but now I've passed stage one so onto the next level, Yippee!!!!

Yesterday was all the tea, cake and catching up with friends. We sat in a lovely cafe sipping our drinks, whiling away the dampness of the day with tales of fun trips, health improvements, boyfriend troubles, books read and summer plans. Lovely. We also made a trip to the moat to meet the new cygnets who put on the perfect display of cuteness for us. There was 8 little fluff balls on the water. It was also a plant buying day for some pots which look slightly weedy but should spring forth like Chelsea flower show, not!

Today is a day for trips back in time to my old home in Wells for the fair. There will be more of the above mentioned tea, cake and plants. Meeting friends, seeing cute animals in the show and sipping drinks on the cricket pitch.
