........................as you all know, in recent weeks, life in Somerset has been a little sickly, in fact to be frank VERY SICK indeed. It all began one Saturday after a lovely day of scrapbooking with friends. I felt a little giddy and had a sore throat but nothing a little Ibruprofen couldn't handle. Overnight, the throat got worse, imagine razors, and little sleep was had, however the Ibuprofen appeared to improve the situation until late morning when rigors developed and we felt literally as if we were going to die. As you know one is a nurse and would NEVER phone the Out of hours doctor without real serious illness. They didn't come out as felt it was just a virus however one felt better after about 4 hours so not too concerned. Monday appeared fine until the dreaded Tuesday when the parents were coming over with shopping supplies!!!!! Now for someone who is surrounded by illhealth regularly, nothing can prepare you for bearing illness all alone and being violently sick is not pleasant when u feel so poorly already. By this stage, we're feeling like something really is wrong but primarily a virus of some ind. Then friend of said ill person laughingly suggests SWINE FLU!!!!!!!!!!! Gasp! Could be we have been struck down with the pig-flu? By inserting said individual's symptoms into the NHS website one is fatally informed of the diagnosis. YES IT IS SWINE FLU.
Now we have to phone our old workplace, not the nicest thing to do, and to get them to organise the Tamiflu tablets for you. Then inform the parents of said diagnosis. Luckily they've had the immunisation so they're safe.
If anyone wants to know what Swine flu is like....................IT IS HORRIBLE...................!!!!! Now for the squemish dont look any further but this is what I looked like.

I know, why would you want to see that,? Well, I thought it would demonstrate what a sick blogger looks like. Anyway I had to take my Tamiflu for 5 days, twice daily and now today I am feeling much better.

I actually went out to the church centre for an hour and a half to make cards. It was nice to see the real world but an hour and a half was long enough. I came home feeling abit tired and sicky. Anyway I'm feeling tons better than I was last week I can tell you.
I came home and had some Get well soon cards from some friends and while I've been ill, my hyacinths have flowered. They came from Lidl and cost 50 pence..............I mean 3 bulbs in a wicker basket, 50 pence. That is a mega bargain.
In other good news, the benefits got paid, the backdated ones, but they've virtually gone on paying all the outstanding bills. Boooooo! I think I might have made a new friend in Wells, yeah. I am meeting the lovely Abi in a few weeks, and the gorgeous BOY of hers as she can escape from school on a Sunday. Really looking forward to meeting her in the flesh, hope I don't let her down.
The church does a knitting group every 3rd Friday so will be checking that out, I've put my name down for an allotment and also for Brownie leader roles as I did that in Southampton.
Anyway, hopefully we are on the mend now and will return to full blogging capability.
Love and thanx for all your good wishes,

WELLNESS.

.............it is interesting that I should find Ali Edward's new blogpost today where she is discussing plans for what to do in February which will inspire you regarding your word of the year which if you remember was ''Wellness''...................the reason being that I am definately not well. To put it into perspective, I am ALOT better than yesterday when I festered in my bed feeling like death, I even phoned the out of hours doctors service which for a nurse is a definate no-no unless someone is dying!!!!!! I thought I was, my heart was pounding, my temperature was rock bottom but I was having rigours, the shakes and could not get warm. I was fully clothed with extra jumpers on plus lying under a thick duvet, thick blanket and eiderdown thing and still felt freezing. The doctor did ring me back, not visit, and said there is a dreadful virus doing the rounds. I still have the throat from hell and Dalek Kahn is living in my larynx but at least I feel well enough to get up today and do something.

Anyway, thankfully, I can speak across the blogworld to all my friend without, a, loosing my voice and b. and much worse giving you all this horrible virus.
So Ali has posted today about 3 things:
  1. Create
  2. Learn
  3. Write.

So these are my 3 ideas to follow on from what she has discussed:
1. She suggested taking photographs and creating something individual around your word for the year. She also gave a link to this really clever site called Spell with Flickr. You type in your word and up pops your word in image form like below..............

KMcElman_090516_W1 letter E L letter L letter N E S S

.................you then get an html code to pop into your blog and hey presto. I didn't like the initial version and have only kept the owl in ''L'' but all you do is keep clicking on the the letter until an image pleases you and the overall design seems appropriate. I love the embroidered ''L'' as I do cross stitch and the sculpted ''e'' on the pencil. The carved ''N'' is also very me as it is to do with trees and I love trees, plus they give homes to owls so doubly special. The ''e'' is a little dubious but I like the leaf background and I think the overall appearance is beautiful.

2. For learn Ali suggests finding a library book or online book etc. which helps you explore your word so will have to do abit of research for that one I think.
3. Is to write something.................done

poorly kitty

So poorly Willow......better known as most expensive thing I have ever bought............had her op yesterday to repair her hernia of the bowel. She has now had a total of 5 operations in the last 5 weeks................firstly for the badger attack and now it seems she's been assaulted by a cow!!!! Will she ever learn. Perhaps I should have learnt from the climbing the tree incident in Southampton. Oh well, at least this time she is insured...........grateful to Churchill for that - oh no, no, no. Love that wobbly headed dog.
In other news, have still got the voice and virus from hell.......still sound like a dalek and voice not improving.
Anyway at least it's pay day in 2 days so happy days!
