Storytelling Sunday ~ pick your precious ~ Willow x

Happy Sunday to you all and welcome to another monthly post called Storytelling Sunday in association with Sian of High in the Sky fame. As always this year, I am picking a precious and what's more precious than that fluffy creature I call Willow.

Willow's biggest fan my ~ dad x

Well apparently Willow is also know as Princess Willow, delusions of grandeur somewhere, and also Pretty Baby Girl today or Stupid face as I sometimes call her.

Anyway this year she is seven, not very old but she's had an eventful life. Let me go back seven years and tell you about Lotty. Lotty was the first cat I had along with Holly. We all lived very happily togehter in Southampton until one day while we were enjoying the sunshine her back legs seemed to go paralysed. Off we went to the vets and sadly I had to make that awful choice to have her put down. It truly was one of the worst days.

 first birthday

Flash forward almost a year and I am reading the local free paper and an advert comes up for Persian kittens as a majorly reduce price. I had always wanted one so made some enquiries. To cut what could be a really long story short, Willow and her siblings were all 7 months old as the people who were meant to take them home kept changing their minds, so I found my self one evening going to visit the breeder and the kittens and choosing Willow to come live with myself and Holly.

Willow and her breeder the day she came home.

 this is Willow's mummy Poppy.

Holly was standoffish to begin with but Willow has never been afraid of a challenge and off she went to beguile Holly into loving her, which in the end she did. Willow should have no brain apparently Persians don't and when I got her there were rules I was meant to follow like don't let her out! Well Willow I'm afraid had other ideas in fact she is one of the most outdoor cats I've known. She loves nothing better than chasing butterflies, playing in the dirt, collecting twigs in her tail and running through fields.

She has had her fair share of mishaps. There was the time she climbed a tree across the road from our house in Southampton and got stuck. The RSPCA wanted to leave her there for 2 days but a very handsome prince shimmied up the tree to rescue her. There was the incident with the badger/fox where she had half her face gouged out and needs stitched several times, got a bone infection and nearly lost her eye followed swiftly by the hernia incident.

...........and this is the damaged leg incident x

But all in all she is precious to not just me. My dad is her no 1 fan, she has 2 marmalade cat boyfriends, their owner jokes they'd have beautiful kittens who were balls of ginger fluff. The children round her love her as do my neighbours. She is so cheeky she goes into my friend's houses without so much as a by your leave.

At the end of the day she is precious to so many people, I think that means she's a hit.

Glitter Girl challenge and a catch-up

Hi everyone and welcome back ME. Life has had a rather busy sting of late so all my lovely blog plans went slightly out the window and into the snow. Yeah it SNOWED! Did you notice?

Anyhow, I am now back and managed to do this week's Glitter girl challenge. This week was all about colour and how to use patterned papers when you've got a photo with loads of colour. I actually had a photo with a big colour of grey and so used that as my starting point. It's a collage I did when I made lil sis's 40th birthday album. I got some small pictures on it which I thought I would use at a later date and it felt just right for this challenge.

So here is my layout......................

The picture is about 8 x 6 from Boots and I loved all the little images. Because the predominant colour was grey I felt I could go with quite bright patterned papers and went for a bright floral design and then added in some accents of pink, red, yellow, blue to highlight colours with in the collage pictures themselves.

Although you can't really tell, the thickers are black glittery letters which I felt was good for a birthday/celebration layout.

If you want to see Glitter Girl's video you can watch it below..........

Also it Snowed and South Horrington looked like Narnia. Willow being the cat she is went out playing and I caught her for another layout.............

I am a little behind with Project Life because of life events but I sat down and watched some online TV the other day and made a load of card inserts of the right size ready to get it organised. One of the things I have decided to do is add in my Project 365 photographs each week as a collage which is really easy to produce using Picassa.

Here are my collages for weeks 1 and 2.................

I'll be back to explain the week 2 and week 3 choices probably tomorrow. Picassa is really great for screen captures too.

Anyway hope you are all safe and warm wherever you live and I am counting the weeks down to our bloggers meetup in March.

Close your eyes if your scared of SPIDERS!!!!!!!!

OK you have been warned, this is a brief post but includes one rather amazing spider, then there is a cute video of a kitten which looks remarkably like Willow. Now as I didn't get Willow until she was 7 months old I never saw here like this so it was perfect to see Yoda in all his glory. Also watch right to the end and you will see just how scrawny Persians are when wet.

So first comes the SPIDER.............................

and yep that is me holding him. He is a bird eating spider and I was at my first trip to WI....................definately not boring.

Now for going through the spider story your reward is cute Yoda who belongs to a lovely youtuber called Sam Pepper...................

here is Willow at 7 months when I first got her home and below is Yoda............

Storytelling Sunday....................... pet story.

What was I going to talk about today for Storytelling Sunday I wondered? To be honest I'm still not one hundred percent sure but I'm gonna ramble abit I think.

Now I am back at work, the usual thing has happened, despite my best efforts I have caught a cold. Boo hoo. It means I sound like a dalek and have the most awful taste in my mouth. Conversely it does mean I have stayed in my bed nice and warm and cosy this morning. I am joined by the fluffbuns namely Holly (fluffbun) and bayb fluff (Willow). We have always had animals in my family. My grandparents had dogs and we grew up playing with Sally who was a colly with a poorly paw and Tufty their cat.

Our own first pet was a black Burmese cat called Sooty, original huh? I can remember walking to my friend's house with my mum one dark evening to pick him up and we walked home with him in my mum's coat pocket. Sooty lived for about 15 years and was a well loved cat. We then had Smudge who was only a part of the family for a brief time and sadly was run over. My sister and I then had a succession of rabbits, guinea pig and another cat called Smokey who was a Maine Coone cat.

After I left home, I didnt have any pets until I bought my own house in Southampton and that is when I first got Holly and Lotty. hey were in a cage together at the PDSA a charity for abandoned pets.

Holly was 3 months and Lotty 7 months. I couldnt bear to separate them so took them both home. I still have Holly obviously and inbetween I also gained a guinea pig and  a rabbit called Blackeyes who is over 10 years old and has been adopted by my friend and her children back in Southampton. Oh yes and there have been several fish!!!! Many from fairground wins.

Willow came into the fold nearly four years ago. As you all know she is a pure pedigree Persian although I would never show her. She's too fussy and if I had to wash and brush her more than average it would be a disaster. She is more like a dog at times. She loves rolling in the dirt, she brings in dead things and her tail is more like a brush than a tail......................there have been forests of leaves in there! She is still beautiful though. As for Holly at 16 yearsish she can still hold her own, chases around the flat like a kitten at times and generally loves sitting on any lap available.

Having pets has made life fun, expensive at times but generally a very postive thing. So go get one, it's the best therapy ever and research proves it :)).

You never know............

..........so today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed I think cos I felt really despondent about the whole-being unemployed- thing. I couldn't shake the feeling that someone had missed me off their mailing list of things to send out.
Anyway, this afternoon, I checked my emails and I've got a job interview on the 5th March for a job I applied for with NHS Direct in Bristol. Woop number 1.
Then Shimelle has been going on about a new class and has finally explained what it's about here

It's a class about using up all your stash, definately need to do that as have too much!!!!! She also is doing a giveaway of the new Pencil Lines sketches book. Her class is only 10 pounds for 3 weeks and they're always g8 fun and very informative, give it a go. I have treated myself.

Here is another LO from Cathy Z class, which is of my baby fluff Willow. Isn't she cute??

Persian pretties..............

If Willow were a showcat how gorgeous could she be..............this one looks amazing. She just wont let me groom her enough. It's all hiss and growl here!

A cat with a love of books.....................my ideal kitty. Looked up a catsite today that says once your cat gets to 16 they're about 80 years old and geriatric...............I've covered Holly's ears. They should hear her chasing around the flat after Willow in the middle of the night.

poorly kitty

So poorly Willow......better known as most expensive thing I have ever bought............had her op yesterday to repair her hernia of the bowel. She has now had a total of 5 operations in the last 5 weeks................firstly for the badger attack and now it seems she's been assaulted by a cow!!!! Will she ever learn. Perhaps I should have learnt from the climbing the tree incident in Southampton. Oh well, at least this time she is insured...........grateful to Churchill for that - oh no, no, no. Love that wobbly headed dog.
In other news, have still got the voice and virus from hell.......still sound like a dalek and voice not improving.
Anyway at least it's pay day in 2 days so happy days!

Safe..........you're joking aren't you?

So just when you think everything's going peachy you find a lump in your cats tummy! Because she's already been in the vets on and off for the last month or so I think she's got an addiction to the anaesthetic or something. Anyway the nice vet says she's probably got a hernia..............abdo xray and anaesthetic tomorrow. At least she's insured now hahahah.
I still have a cold and husky voice which means I still sound like a dalek but hey what's a girl to do. Only wish I had a sexy man to talk to. At least the voice would be useful.
On a scrapping note, I am really loving the digital side and have not paper scrapped for ages. I have got some gorgeous stuff to use though and need to get focussed as my sister's pressie will not be completed in time. I did manage to get myself a mini tabletop easel today from Alladin's cave which literally has everything you could think of other than food! You could spend hours in there. Plus they're really reasonably priced. I wanted something to stand my pages on properly to display if I like and also to photograph more effectively.
Anyway, will tell you how PBGT manages tomorrow.
Oh by the way my sister sent me a link to a free music link which has old and up-to-date stuff- so I've been indulging my 80s and punk era loves today..............for free!!!!!!!!! The link is https://www.spotify.com/blog/

NEW!

So I thought I would share some photos of my new home with you. This is the second place I have lived since moving to Somerset 16 months ago............without counting living at m & d's for a couple of months to begin with. I decided to move nearer to work cos I like my job and I also like having more time in bed and at my age you need your beauty sleep. The place I chose was South Horrington which used to be The Mendip Hospital and has been converted into houses and apartments. It is set in all the old grounds and we have the god fortune of no longer having to mow or tend the garden and have of having a cricket field and bar on site-woohoo!!!!!
So these are some pics of the place I took

The other thing I have never said is I have 2 lovely cats- Holly who is about 16 and a semi-long haired black/ginger and Willow who is a pure persian cafe au late colour. Now Miss Willow or pretty baby girl today has not been so pretty of late as she had a run in with something we can only assume was a car or badger which basically ripped her jaw open, damaged her right eye and generally left her rather unattractive. Well suffice to say that after 4 operations, numerous visits to said vets, antibiotics and about £800.00 because I had let the insurance slide for 1 month!!!!!!! due to moving home...................she is now very pretty and this is what she thought last night.........

........I mean talk about self deluded! Anyway we're all very happy you think you're beautiful.

In other news today, the postie brought some loveliness from Sarah's Cards and Scrappagogo:
yummy papers.......

bling, ribbon and letters.................

all from Scrappagogo............

now for S.Cards........
gorgeous patterned papers.............

coloured cards..................

assorted bling, ribbons, rubons, glitter.............ooohlala.........!!!!!

So there you have it a long blog of news.
