Squeeky mouse.....

Once upon a time there lived a girl who loved to sing and laugh and had a lovely job which she enjoyed. Unfortunately for her, she kept getting poorly. One day she woke up without her voice, what could she do she wondered? The doctor said ''You have laryngitis and must rest your voice''. So she did and 2 1/2 weeks later she still sounded like a squeeky mouse. So now she is on nasal steroids for 6 weeks,.....................what a joke. The moral of this story.....................keep away from people with bugs and ask your colleagues to stay off work when they're ill too.
Anyway, enough moaning about the voice and more of the happy, scrappy stuff. So while I was on my extended absence which I have to say was more to do with me being upset and generally miffed, I was presented with a rather lovely blog award from Sandra. How sweet.

As I havent had one for a while I felt rather special and so now have to tell you 8 new things about myself. So here goes:

  1. I have discovered that buying the cheaper supermarket own brand fruit teas are just not as good as Twinings, I have been drinking Lemon and ginger tea with honey for my throat until the cows come home and seriously Twinings is the only one with enough ginger in it to give it some fire.
  2. I love flowers and especially ones with a decent fragrance like lilacs, hyacinths and lilies.
  3. I want to dance more and when I'm better I'm going to do some ballet, think Miss Piggy in Swine Lake but I'm gonna give it a go.
  4. The person who knows me best in the world is Luke, who is half my age and I speak to virtually every day. I think he is the person I have bared my soul to the most and he is the best friend u could ask for.
  5. My music collection is extremely varied, there is Mozart, Rachmaninov, Ryan Dan, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Pet Shop Boys, The The, Soft Cell, Green Day, The Killers, Dangerous Muse, Belle and Sebastien, Erasure, Philip Glass, Depeche Mode, Muse, Primal Scream, The Sex Pistols, Scissor Sisters, Pink Floyd,  to name but a few.
  6. My cat snores, really badly, but apparently so do I, ;-))
  7. I REALLY want to go on holiday this year, somewhere interesting like Barcelona again or Seville or New York if I could afford it...........................basically somewhere lovely.
  8. I love art galleries, last time was a while a go but we went to the Saatchi Gallery in London.
So now I'm supposed to choose 8 people to share this award with. Problem is I know so many people who would make the list who've had it already, so I give it to everyone who visits and would love to share some unknown facts about themselves and have a sparkly award to boot.

What a lovely day..............

Just got back from lil sisters where I had a brai both last night and today with the aged P's, otherwise known as mum and dad. Rach and I watched a terrible film last night. It was a remake, never a g8 sart as I always feel the original will have been better, however I was open to be wrong. It all started off OK but deteriorated into silliness, Ralph Fiennes a Hades, or was that Voldemort, same difference if u asl me. Anyway the film was Clash of the Titans, now call me old fashioned but the original had all the fab old actors, like Ursula Andress, Maggie Smith I mean quality stuff. The amazing special effects of Ray Harrihausen and for the time they were fab. Anyway we werent swayed and still felt that the original was the better version.
More from today, after my nit nurse experience of the other night, today I was nurse to the injured mother. I am always saying she falls over her own feet more often than I've had hot dinners but today she fell up the step in my sister's kitchen, there was blood everywhere as she cut the inside of her gum with her teeth. The problem with gums is they are very high with blood supply so bleed alot. Anyway we got the bleeding settled and then checked her over for cuts and bruises and lumps on her head. She was rather shakey but seemed to recover ok. ''Can I have some wine?'' she asked, ''No I said just in case you start feeling ill and did hit your head and have concussion!''. Arent I mean. Anyway all was quickly sorted and we had a lovely afternoon.
Now I really feel today I deserve this sweet award Abi has given me, super nurse after all this weekend on my days off!

So thank you Abi for giving me an award which has made me smile. You're a sweety.
There are five conditions to this award:

  • I thank the person who gave it to me

  • I put the award on my blog

  • List three things about myself

  • Post a picture I love

  • Tag five people
So I have done number 1  and 2 I think. Ok so 3 things about myself, only 3 can I limit myself to that small number you dont know already? Ok here goes:
    1.  I am the worst person to get blood from. I have no veins in my arms so they usually have to take it from the back of my hand, after digging around a few times just for good measure after I tell them not to!!!!!
    2. I have taught myself crochet and am making the Lucy bag by Attic 24, it's dead simple if you're just learning and grows quickly so you feel you've achieved something cool.
    3. I have met the Oscar winning actor Daniel Day Lewis, not long after he made '' A Room with a View''. I met him in the Vrigin mega store in Oxford Street when famous people were signing people up for Run the World. I signed up and ran/walked around Hyde Park etc and got the t-shirt. Haven't got it but I have my autographed LP of the music of the film Daniel was in.

Now who to tag? Ok I nominate Dolly Dreamings for her amazing hardwork on 52 in 10 and raising money through this for her local hospice, Attic 24 for her crochet inspiring blogposts, and the Lucy bag and for fun in her caravan,  Rachel B for her fun pages about scrapbooking, kids and knitting, Alexa at trimming the sails for her tutorials and wonderful LOs and finally Furry lil monster who has wonderful Los and is working hard on a tough challenge!!!

Oh almost forgot my fave picture, well there are many but this one is my fave painting by an artist, enjoy.......

I love the colours and the vivacious way he painted this. I have seen it oin the flesh in New York and although a small picture, it is more amazing to me than the Mona Lisa.

Hope you have all had a g8 weekend, see you all tomorrow in class, LSNED.

Blog awards and sunshine

So this weekend has turned out rather beautifully even though Alan didn’t come. I was woken by the man from Next with a big box for me. What could this be I asked myself and opened the box to find a bunch of beautiful roses in yellow, orange, pink and dark pink from said Alan asking profusely for forgiveness etc. Of course there wasn’t anything to forgive but flowers are always acceptable. I the hopped over to see Mum and Dad’s church fete and got free coffee and cake, plus helped my dad’s book stall. In the afternoon I sat in the gardens here and read my book and enjoyed relaxing.

Today I have to baby sisters where she had a braii or BBQ for us UK residents. It was lovely and the weather stayed beautiful until just before I left when it threw down. Rachel had literally just been reading on her I-pod that the forecast for Wales was torrential rain. Quite why we got it as we were not in Wales is another matter however it came and then went. She has given me a load of pampering smellies as I am so poverty stricken including some self-tan! So hopefully I will look sun-kissed for next Sunday...................mum’s 70th.

I was nominated for a 'Creative Writer' blogger award by Sian from High in the Sky. I was glad to receive this not only as I love something different but I have been a bit lax in the blogging ideas of late.

First, there are rules. (I'm not usually one for rules but I'm happy to go along with these!)

1. I need to express gratitude to the blogger who bestowed the award. Whoop, whoop and one of those South African horn thingummyjigs they are using at the football to Sian.

2. Display the blog award on my blog..................tah dah............

3. Be nice and provide a link to the person who gave it to me.....the perfectly petite Sian....and then ...............

4. Tell up to 6 outrageous lies about myself and at least, 1 outrageous truth. Or, switch it around and tell 6 outrageous truths and 1 outrageous lie!

5. I need to then nominate 7 creative writers to do the same.

6. I then have to post links to each of the nominees I have named below.

So here are my responses....................

1. I saw Ferris Bueller’s day off before it came to the cinema as an audience participant and decided which bits were good and not so good,

2. I can recite the whole of the Scooby Doo and the snowman mystery by heart,

3. I have met and sat next to Daniel Day Lewis before he was mega-famous,

4. My friend is a crime writer,

5. I’ve sat in Captain Kirk’s chair,

6. My parents have attended the Queen’s garden party,

7. I am an unacknowledged extra in Doctor Who and get to kiss David Tennant and Capt Jack Harkness before saving them both from the Daleks and giving my life to save them!!!!!

Now I have to nominate 7 clever writers to complete this task............. so I have chosen

1. Mel

2. Lizzie

3. Amy

4. Jacky

5. Rachel

6. Rachel B

7. Abi

Now you must hop over and see what terrible fibbers they all are, or not.
